Command-line Parameters

IE7 comes with some new command-line parameters and has lost a few. Here's a short overview over the ones I know of:

  • none: OpenHomePage as default action
  • -new (new process, default anyway)
  • -k (kiosk mode)
  • -nohome (nohome in tab, navigation cut off)
  • -extoff (with Add-Ons shut off)
  • -restart (?)
  • -brokerredirect (?)
  • -embedding (no window)
  • -url "item" does a search for "item" with the default search provider
  • "URL" opens URL
  • "about:blank" - alternative to -nohome with better behavior
removed:
  • -slf
  • -channelband

Just found a somewhat longer explanation in PeteL's Blog.

Comment of Richard L. Scotti:
What do I put in the command line Start/run/ iexplore -new? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.
